SEDIMEX ESR Analyzer
The SEDIMEX ESR Analyzer is an automated instrument for measuring the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), designed and manufactured by Parsian Teb Zaman Engineering Company. It is designed to accelerate testing, reduce operator intervention, and improve accuracy and ease of use in clinical diagnostic laboratories.
ESR is a routine laboratory test that measures how quickly red blood cells settle. In the manual Westergren method, results are typically read after approximately one hour. SEDIMEX uses an infrared LED detection system to monitor sample sedimentation and calculate results based on the Westergren method. The specified analysis time for SEDIMEX is approximately 30 minutes.
Operating Principle
Blood sample tubes are placed in the designated channels of the SEDIMEX analyzer. Its infrared LED optical system detects changes in the blood column and the interface between the sedimented red blood cells and the upper portion of the sample.
The instrument processes this information to calculate ESR and report results in mm/hr in accordance with the Westergren method. The device specifications also include temperature compensation to provide equivalent results at 18°C.

Advantages
Compared with fully manual ESR reading, SEDIMEX can increase sample throughput and reduce dependence on manual timing and operator interpretation. Random Access functionality allows samples to be added during operation. Connectivity with LIS, barcode scanners, and printers also facilitates integration into laboratory workflows.
The 30-channel model is suitable for laboratories with higher sample volumes. According to the official specifications, it offers a throughput of up to 60 samples per hour.

LIS and Barcode Connectivity
One of the key features of SEDIMEX is its ability to integrate with a Laboratory Information System (LIS). Sample IDs can also be entered using a barcode scanner. These capabilities can help reduce manual data entry and improve sample management in the laboratory.
Intended Use
SEDIMEX is designed for hematology departments and clinical diagnostic laboratories, with its primary function being the measurement and reading of ESR tests. An ESR result alone does not establish a specific diagnosis; it is interpreted by a physician alongside other clinical and laboratory findings.
